Not so sure about Con-Con, Dahl says

One of the United Republican Fund's eight picks in 2008, State Senator Gary Dahl faces a challenge in his LaSalle/Peru-based district.  Dahl ousted a Democratic majority honcho in 2004 and has become a favorite in his district and emerged as a conservative leader in the Illinois Senate.  Dahl told area voters last night that he's not so sure Illinois needs the distraction of a Con-Con in 2009.

On Nov. 4, voters will decide whether the state should hold a convention to write a new state constitution. Dahl said the total cost of the convention is estimated at $100 million and the process will take two years. “Very little will get done in Springfield while it is going on,” he said of the convention.

URF’s 8 in 08 Gary Dahl: State Senator for the 38th

Dahlprt State Senator Gary Dahl (R-Granville) says he was “bushwhacked” four years ago by Illinois leaders of  the National Federation of Independent Businesses to take on one of State Senate President Emil Jones’ lieutenants.

What Dahl 'had done' that night was defeat all odds of a bad year for Republicans and push out 22-year Democratic incumbent Patrick Welch.  The people of the 38th Senate district had all they wanted of an egotistical senator who had lost interest in hearing from them.
