SPRINGFIELD - Donald Trump is the Republican presidential nominee in the November General Election, but during the annual Republican Day at Illinois' State Fair Wednesday, the national spokesman for the GOP seemed to be persona non grata - unwelcomed and unacceptable.
Governor Rauner pushed for Republicans to gain five or six seats in the Illinois legislature, Mark Kirk pushed for his re-election, and Republican Minority leader Jim Durkin hoped for a winning year for state GOP candidates.
Although reporters were on hand to take photos of the day's festivities, only one sign promoting Donald Trump was spotted by Matt Dietdrich of Reboot Illinois, which was held by a Trump fan in the crowd of onlookers:
Only one speaker mentioned the name "Trump" while ramping up the Republican faithful - Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno.
