CHICAGO - It's the first day of July 2016, and Chicago violence reached a new low when shootings increased by 50 percent over last June, according to a report by DNAInfo Chicago.
Chicago - which has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation - has "An Orlando every month" the source says. About 416 people were wounded in 333 shootings this June, a sharp spike from a year ago, when in June there were 272 victims in 218 shootings.
Over the past 30 days, 70 Chicagoans died as the result of shootings, compared to 43 last year.
