SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Technology & Manufacturing Association of Illinois (TMA) has announced the election of Fernando Ortiz, Jr. as Chairman of the Board for 2015. Ortiz is Vice President and General Manager of Roberts Swiss Inc., a company headquartered in Itasca specializing in precision Swiss Machined Parts for the medical, dental, hydraulics, aerospace, military and other industries.
Ortiz, who worked his way up from the shop floor to the executive offices at Roberts Swiss, told an audience of several hundred Illinois manufacturers last Saturday the he was thankful to TMA "for the programs, services and training" that helped him get to where he is today. “I am humbled by the trust given to me by my peers to chair this great organization,” he added.
Ortiz is a member of the Young Leaders Committee at TMA and also serves as Chairman of the Illinois District of the Precision Machined Products Association. His active participation in both associations affords him vast knowledge and networking abilities within this specialized industry. Currently, Ortiz is working on the implementation of new machine tool technologies at Roberts Swiss’ CNC operations and developing engineered solutions of high complexity components for the Medical Industry. Ortiz and his wife Andrea, reside in the Western Suburbs with their two daughters.
TMA also elected Jeff Pope of WS Hampshire, Guy Cassidy of Acme Industries, and Patricia Miller of Matrix IV to three-year board terms.
