Earlier this week, Gov. Quinn announced his intention to gather ideas on how to get the Peotone Airport - aka the airport to nowhere - off the ground after more than 20 years of speculation and $76 million in land purchases.
State Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) had the perfect suggestion for the Governor. How about Rockford? From Demmer's Facebook page:
Here’s an idea: Don’t build it and save millions of taxpayer dollars. Both American Airlines and United Airlines are quoted in this article saying they will not use a Peotone airport. Also, the Rockford Airport is already more than capable of serving cargo flights and any air traffic overflow.
