On Tuesday, March 18, Democrat primary voters in Illinois went to the polls and nominated incumbent Dick Durbin to be their candidate on the 2014 midterm election ballot.
Interestingly, Durbin was named Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense at the beginning of the 113th Congress. A MapLight analysis shows that the nation's top defense contractors are some of the biggest contributors to his re-election bid.
In fact, Senator Durbin has received $3.8M ($3,846,406) since January 1, 2013.
