PALATINE – Cook County Republican Party Chairman Aaron Del Mar announced his intention to run for a second term as Chairman, after being re-elected as Palatine Township Republican Committeeman last Tuesday. Del Mar is being challenged by Chris Cleveland, who has thrown his hat in the ring for the job as well (HERE).
“It has been my honor to serve my fellow Republicans in this capacity. We have made significant progress in the past two years, but our biggest test is on the horizon. We must defeat Pat Quinn and the Democrats in the fall and finally elect a competent Governor to lead our great state. This is what we have been building towards for the past two years, and I intend to see this effort through to its successful completion,” Del Mar said in a press release.
Del Mar noted: “In the past two years, we have been building towards this critical election. If we swing just 5 votes per precinct this year compared to 2010, we will receive 30% of the vote in Cook County and our statewide candidates will be victorious. That has been our plan since I was elected to this role, and over the next eight months we will see the fruits of these efforts.”
Del Mar was elected Chairman in April of 2012. According to his press statement, Del Mar "has instituted a number of highly successful initiatives, including his signature Committeeman Support Program which has provided active assistance to dozens of Committeemen and organizations throughoutCook County. He has also led an initiative to combat vote fraud and restore integrity to the vote process in Chicago and Cook County. In the 2012 General Election he coordinated call centers throughout the County to support Republican candidates in swing House and Senate Districts. And he has been an active, public face for the Party both in fundraising and in the media."
