CHICAGO - A newly-released Chicago Tribune/WGN poll shows that Chicago venture capitalist Bruce Rauner with 40 percent in the GOP gubernatorial race, way ahead of the three other GOP candidates - State Senator Bill Brady at 20 percent, State Treasurer Dan Rutherford at 13 percent and State Senator Kirk Dillard at 11 percent. Only 15 percent of likely GOP voters remain undecided.
Rauner skipped the WLS AM Radio debate Monday night in Schaumburg. Organized by Cook County's northwest suburban GOP orgs, of which many have already endorsed Rauner, as well as Illinois Policy Institute, only Brady, Rutherford and Dillard showed up.
While Rauner's failure to attend the Monday night debate was disappointing for the 300 or so attendees, the Tribune poll shows he may be unsurpassable for the March 18th GOP primary.
