CHICAGO - Illinois State Comptroller Judy Baar-Topinka is blaming conservative Republicans for the Illinois GOP's problems.
According to reports, Topinka thinks 2014 should be a Republican year because of Syria, Obamacare and Benghazi, but she fears the conservative right of her party is helping the Democrats. According to Topinka, if the right doesn't compromise on "ideology" - it will be their fault if the ILGOP doesn't win next year.
“The right, if it insists on its own ideology, depending on the issue, it’s either my way or the highway,” Topinka said. “It could split the party in such a way that it could not come together for a victory.”
Topinka believes Democrat-led issues such as gay marriage should be off the ILGOP's table in 2014 because they are too divisive.
WLS's Bill Cameron reports Topinka said it’s fine for the right to throw red meat [to] their followers, but their agenda won’t work in a general election.
