CHICAGO HEIGHTS - Gay spokesman Mark Lackovich - who was also at the Chicago pro-marriage march Saturday - blamed much of the resistance to Illinois passing legalizing gay marriage on Chicago area pastors that are "hateful" and determined to deprive others of equal rights. In this 2 minute video, a Chicago Heights pastor responds to Lackovich's criticism.
Gay marriage critics say bill's passage would cause speech and religious freedoms to be restricted, while forcing private citizens to adapt their businesses to the law, despite their religious convictions.
The Illinois House did not have enough votes to pass gay marriage before the Illinois General Assembly's May 31st adjournment.
