CHICAGO, IL – Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s reported plea deal with federal investigators, leaked today, is nothing but the tip of the iceberg, says Paul McKinley, Republican candidate for the Illinois Second District, Jackson’s former congressional seat.
“The people should know that the Machine is more than just Jesse Jr. He is only the tip of the iceberg, a symptom. We need to see what is underneath those waters of corruption,” said McKinley.
“Self-enriching politicians like Jesse Jackson, Jr. have outfitted their homes and their lives with money that isn’t theirs, while our children’s schools are crumbling and our neighborhoods are a warzone.”
“This purported plea deal reveals just who has been at controls of the people’s seat—the Chicago Democratic Machine. That Machine, which has been in charge for 60 years, uses people like Jackson Jr. as part of a larger network of corruption to profit off the misery of residents of Chicago.”
McKinley has been waging a campaign in Illinois’ Second Congressional District taking on the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine. The primary will be held on February 26.
“Jesse Jackson, Jr. should have been given the opportunity to come forth and be a witness. The Machine is an outfit and he isn’t the only one in it,” he continued.
“Jackson was just a pawn, doing what the Machine told him to do. Now that he got in trouble, and is not the darling of the Machine, he is going down by himself.”
McKinley added that he would attend Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s, sentencing if open to the public.
