Seems the always liberal State Rep. Lou Lang (photo right) is following the Democrat playbook again this year. While refusing to answer questionnaires himself, Lang is using the policy positions provided by his opponent, Vincent Romano, against him. So says Illinois Family Institute Executive Director Dave Smith.
Smith is upset about Lang's recent mailer says Romano supports a policy that would allow gangbangers to carry loaded guns in neighborhoods, parks and shopping centers. Immediately following this quote, the mailing states that the source for this information is the IFI Voter Guide.
In a written statement, IFI's smith wrote: "We strenuously object to the misrepresentation of the information provided by the IFI Voter Guide. The IFI Voter Guide asked candidates if they oppose or support a particular bill (HB 148), which would “permit the county sheriff to issue permits to carry a concealed firearm to persons who meet certain requirements.” The IFI Voter Guide and the legislation in question do not even mention the word “gangbangers.”
According to Smith, this legislation would have allowed law abiding citizens to carry a handgun in public in a concealed manner for personal protection -- also known as concealed carry. Illinois is the only state in the nation to not allow citizens this privilege.
IFI is requesting a correction of this false attribution to the IFI Voter Guide.
