SPRINGFIELD - On a press conference call that just ended, 13th CD Democrat candidate Dr. David Gill and his staffer "Lucie" responded to IL GOP accusations of coordinating with the DCCC by reading a prepared statement for reporters concerning a fund Gill insists is funded by grassroots donations rather than the corporate donations.
"The money being spent is from the DCCC's grassroots funds," Gill said, and insisted those DCCC funds are not from corporations, according to his personal campaign funding rules.
When reporters pressed for more information on the mysterious DCCC fund, Gill suddenly dropped off the call and left the staffer "Lucie" to sweep up. The call without edits - Download Gillpresser audio
The NRCC spokeswoman Katie Prill issued this statement about the Gill Presser call:
“David Gill couldn’t answer questions about his hypocritical ad and his less-than-transparent approach to this bogus campaign spin. Illinois families are looking for answers but David Gill refuses to be honest. If David Gill will deceive voters about a TV ad, how can Illinois families trust that he will be in honest in Congress?”
"Lucie" said she is paid by the Gill campaign, and is presumed to be the woman on the YouTube that tried to stop the videographer from recording after the Davis-Gill debate Wednesday night. Neither Dr. Gill nor "Lucie" would identify the woman in green below ...
Earlier today, the Illinois Republican Party unveiled a new web video, "Caught," that seems to show some hypocrisy on the part 13th Congressional District candidate David Gill, who is airing a TV ad touting his refusal to accept contributions from big corporations when the ad itself is funded in coordination with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), with whom Gill previously said he could not coordinate and which Gill previously slammed for accepting Wall Street and corporate contributions.
