Former Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter died on Sunday at age 82 from complications related to non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at his home in Philadelphia.
Specter’s passing was announced by his son Shanin Specter in a statement released this morning, the Associated Press reported.
The former senator who served 30 years in the upper chamber as both a Republican and later Democrat had previously fought cancer twice before, undergoing chemotherapy to battle Hodgkins disease in 2005.
