CHICAGO - Jesse Jackson, Sr. said Tuesday he has no idea when his son will be well enough to return to Congress.
“I don’t want to hazard a guess,” Jackson said in an interview on the ABC News/Yahoo Democratic National Convention live stream. “I mean, I’m a father in this, not -- not medical adviser,” he said. “He must make that decision as to whether … he can continue to serve.”
And the Rev. Anthony Williams of Dolton may have an inside track on what is really going on with the Jacksons.
The reverend said Sunday he is running a write-in campaign against Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. He's run against Jackson six times in the past and failed - three times in Democratic primaries, plus in Republican, Independent and Green Party challenges.
Speculation is that despite four candidates being on the November ballot, Jackson expects to win re-election because none of the other candidates are raising funds enough to pull up name ID to match Jackson's. The Jackson family may be discussing who they will push to succeed Jackson Jr in his congressional seat - most likely his younger brother or Jackson's Chicago Alderman- wife Sandi Jackson.
