LAS VEGAS - Today at the Trump Towers Hotel in Las Vegas, real estate mogul Donald Trump announced his support for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The Nevada primary is scheduled for Saturday.
"Everyone knows our country is in serious trouble. We have a chance to make a difference," Trump said. "It's my privilege to endorse Mitt Romney. Mitt is tough, he's smart," Trump said. "Governor Romney, go out and get 'em."
"I'm honored and pleased to get Donald Trump's endorsement and look forward to getting the endorsement of the people of Nevada. Donald Trump has shown an extraordinary ability to create jobs, and understand how the economy works," Romney said in response.
"While the president didn't cause the recession, he made it worse. Nevada leads the nation in foreclosures. I want to get this economy going again so people can afford homes," Romney, accompanied by his wife Ann, said.
"The president is a nice guy, but he doesn't understand what it take to get our economy going again. I will use my energy to help the economy to get going again, people to get jobs, and keep their homes."
"Thank you for your endorsement, Donald."
No mention was made of Trump's previous endorsement of Democrats. With this endorsement, the Romney camp confirms that Trump will not launch a third-party presidential bid.
