WASHINGTON DC - Twelve years ago, doctors at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee performed surgery to correct baby Samuel Armas' spina bifada malady while he was still in his mother's womb. Photographer Michael Clancy was on hand to photograph the surgery for a magazine feature. During the surgery, the uterus began to move and Samuel's little hand protruded from the surgical slit in his mother's womb. Clancy snapped as Baby Samuel grasped the surgeon's finger. The photo became public and spread worldwide.
Today, 12 year old Samuel shared his thoughts at the ProLifeCon in Washington DC. Sponsored by Family Research Council, Illinois prolifer Jill Stanek introduced photographer Michael Clancy, Samuel and his mother Julie, to prolife bloggers on hand in DC and via livestream.
"God sent me to earth to help stop abortion," Samuel said. He's active in sports and school activities, and his mother says he's evidence of the inestimable value of life.
