Despite the base of the Republican Party and the Party's platform itself being staunchly prolife, Congressman Mark Kirk, also the IL GOP's nominee for U.S. Senate, continues to hold firm on his commitment to despicable and up-until-now non-productive human embryo experimentation.
This response sent out by Kirk campaign to the U.S. district judge's decision to strike down President Obama's stem cell executive order is disappointing and disturbing, because it assures us where a U.S. Senator Kirk would be if presented with a decision on the ever-important issue of the sanctity of life.
Kirk said:
"I am a strong supporter of stem cell research and supported the President's executive order. I disagree with today's court decision and hope the Department of Justice will appeal it immediately. In the meantime, I urge Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid to send the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act to the President's desk when the Congress returns from recess."
Currently, Illinois taxpayers fund with our state tax dollars the same immoral embryonic stem cell research the federal judge stopped today. While the Illinois legislature fought off the expediture for years, a Governor Rod Blagojevich put it into action with an executive order that, soon after, the General Assembly accepted and then subsequently funded.
