Late in July pro-life and pro-family leaders held a meeting in Willowbrook in an attempt to reach a consensus behind one candidate to oppose Mark Kirk in the U.S. Senate Primary.
We heard from and interviewed all of the prospective candidates: John Arrington, Cisco Cotto, Patrick Hughes, Robert Zadek, and Eric Wallace.
Each of these candidates was asked if they would drop out of the race if the pro-family leadership endorsed someone else. John Arrington, Eric Wallace, Patrick Hughes and Cisco Cotto said they would. Cisco Cotto subsequently withdrew and Robert Zadek refused to pledge that he would withdraw and support the consensus pro-family candidate. Pat Hughes was subsequently endorsed as the consensus candidate with the strongest chance to defeat Kirk.
It’s time for John Arrington and Eric Wallace to honor the pledge which they made to us in Willowbrook, and withdraw from the race and endorse Pat Hughes.
