Antoin "Tony" Rezko hit national headlines yesterday when he was taken into custody for allegedly moving around funds prior to his upcoming money laundering felony trial in February. The reason Rezko's story hit the national MSM is because he's been a generous contributor, fundraiser and long time friend to presidential hopeful Barack Obama as well as closely associated with IL Governor Rod Blagojevich.
Rezko's not only given money to several Democrats at the national level, a few Republicans were also beneficiaries of Rezko family funds -- to the tune of $90K plus.
But Rezko also covered his bases at the state level.
Some of his biggest contribution recipients are Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Secretary of State Jesse White, House Speaker Mike Madigan, Senate President Emil Jones and various Chicago aldermen and state lawmaker races.
All them PLUS the Governor.
