Reacting to a comment made on the House floor Saturday by State Rep. Mike Bost, "Citizens to Impeach Blagojevich" posted an online petition at www.impeachblago.com calling for the Illinois House to initiate an investigation into whether the Governor's irresponsible and irrational actions could be impeachable offenses.
Each day Illinois lawmakers convene at the behest of the Governor in special sessions, it costs the state of Illinois at least $40,000. He refuses to compromise his budget demands, despite a state treasury that cannot possibly keep up with his high dollar promises.
Every time the Governor flies home to Chicago rather than stay at the mansion provided for him and his family in Springfield, it costs $4000.
He travels the state on a road show promoting universal health care for all, and taps state agency employees to attend promotion rallies. He tries to sell state's assets in an attempt to forestall making sacrificial cuts in order to make state employee pension obligations.
The governor has ignored pleas of financially-struggling health care providers who look to the state to pay bills nine months overdue. He refuses to address the electric rate crisis, yet he will be calling a special session next week to address gun issues, most likely gun control legislation, weakening the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment.
He issues proclamations and executive orders, bypassing the legislative branch and the people of Illinois' opinions. He orders staff to ignore Freedom of Information requests.
The list goes on and on . . .
"Citizens to Impeach Blago" believes that among those complaints could be impeachable offenses.
The petition says:
FROM THE PEOPLE OF ILLINOIS
Whereas Section 14 of Article IV of the 1970 Illinois Constitution deems authority to the State House to conduct investigations to determine the existence of cause for impeachment of the Executive and Judicial branches,
And whereas Governor Rod Blagojevich has demonstrated disrespect for the people of Illinois in misusing tax dollars, has shown blatant disregard for members of the Legislative branch and their staffs,
And whereas he continues to purposely ignore his vow to perform his Executive officer duties with all diligence and seriousness,
We, the undersigned citizens of Illinois, call upon the Illinois House to commence a Constitution-authorized investigation into whether the Executive officer's conduct justifies cause for impeachment.

You'll probably have your own reasons for signing on.
