With electric rates hiking up to 300 percent in downstate Illinois, political commentator Dan Zanoza takes on the mainstream media, Democratic Senate leadership and even a Republican or two who has been insensitive to those who live south of I-80:

The only problem is there seemed to be a conspiracy afoot. Of course, ComEd and Ameren are huge contributors to political coffers. Krol wasn't born yesterday and it would have been easy for him and others in the media to put two and two together concerning why Senate President Emil Jones (Democrat--Chicago) did not favor the continuation of the freeze on electricity rates. Part of this denial stems from the fact the residents of northern Illinois were facing less of a financial threat than those downstate.
