Just as the Obama train pulled out of the station, the junior senator learned what it was like to be in the Clinton crosshairs. In a story covered by most major press organizations, Sen. Obama was hit with the allegation that he attended a madrassa as a child. While Sen. Obama denies the story, several interesting things happened afterward.
First, this story broke just as the Hillary announcing her exploratory committee was dying down. She couldn’t have asked for better timing on this event. This was not likely a coincidence. This was followed by a Time story stating that Obama had fallen 19 points behind Hillary in its latest poll. At first glance this tactic seems successful, but has it generated an anti Hillary backlash? FNC's coverage of this story set off a fire storm at CNN. While the network normally does all it can to protect and promote the Clinton's, this time they chose to act solely in the interests of business and attack Fox News over the networks coverage of the madrassa story. The attack on FNC even included sending a reporter to investigate at the school Obama attended. The schools administration insisted they did not teach hate. I've never been to the school in question, but I can guarantee that they would not publicized any courses entitled "Death to American Infidels 101" if it does exist. This is just another example of CNN pandering to liberals, although their choice of liberal is surprising.
Aside from CNN breaking from the Clintoncamp, perhaps for the first time ever, Hillary's friends seem to be deserting her as well. Hollywood, a longtime Clinton source of financing, seems to be embracing Obama. Steven Spielberg, David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg (founders of he failed Dreamworks SKG studio) are stepping up big for Sen. Obama with a 2300 dollar a plate February 20 fundraiser. Sen. Obama is clearly encroaching on Hillary's territory here.
How big a slap is this to Hillary? It seems that Dreamworks SKG, has contributed $47,000 to Sen. Clinton. These contributions were made since her 2000 campaign for the Senate. Spielberg alone contributes $11,000 to Sen. Clinton, and he is now hosting the Obama Event.
What does this all mean? Hillary most likely already went Negative with the madrassa story. That was before she was angry. Now, it's going to get interesting.
