They're kidding, right?
The "Illinois Turnaround Team" of Gidwitz and Rauschenberger can turn around one more time. This time maybe they should check on what the conservative base of the Illinois Republican Party thinks about their education plan BEFORE they go public with something that sounds like Blago-lite, something the Gidwitz camp lauds as "The P-16 Plan."
The education plan advocates moms pushing their babies onto big yellow buses that tote their little ones off to impersonal government nurseries for mandatory preschool and kindergarten.
What a disappointment.
Gidwitz wants our babies to go to government nurseries.
Oberweis wants to spank them when they get there.
Topinka would rather not be bothered with snot-nosed kids.
Bill Brady, where are you on this??

Last year, homeschoolers in Illinois fiercely fought liberal Democratic Senator Kwame Raoul's initiative to lower compulsory school attendance age down to five. Now a REPUBLICAN gubernatorial candidate wants to lower it to 3?
Please. Women are choosing to stay home with their babies for a reason. It's not because they want them to be illiterate, Mr. Gidwitz. It's because a mom and a preschooler in a warm, secure setting provides the most solid and inviting environment to produce a love for learning. With the Gidwitz plan, those moms who make the sacrifice to stay home with their babies will be forced to subsidize those moms who send their children to taxpayer-funded preschools and daycare centers.
This is an education REFORM package? Blagojevich also wants universal preschool in Illinois. Our only salvation from such a program has been the lack of funds to implement the program. Now a Republican is jumping on board?
Just WHO was in on that FOCUS group??? IFT and IEA members? Most likely not those "non-professional" women called "stay-at-home moms."
What a disappointment.
