Obama Muslim connections is red herring
by Fran Eaton
Come on, folks. Obama's childhood Muslim connections is a red herring. There's something much more sinister and dangerous about Obama's current religious affiliations.
This morning, the Chicago Tribune acts as a public relations firm for Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. Nowhere in the puff piece is a mention of Wright's black supremacy teachings, his pro-Palestinian rhetoric, nor his vile hatred of George W. Bush.
Link: Pastor inspires `audacity to hope' | Chicago Tribune.
Obama says that rather than advising him on strategy, Wright helps keep his priorities straight and his moral compass calibrated.
"What I value most about Pastor Wright is not his day-to-day political advice," Obama said. "He's much more of a sounding board for me to make sure that I am speaking as truthfully about what I believe as possible and that I'm not losing myself in some of the hype and hoopla and stress that's involved in national politics."
Despite Trinity Church of Christ members accusing me of being a bigot for calling into question their church's Black Value System and Wright's bizarre preaching in my recent Star columns, I contend Obama's Muslim connections are irrelevant, and that by far, Obama's longtime affiliation with Wright should be much more disturbing.
It appears the only way the truth about Barack Obama's pastor and church to take hold is for the blog world to take it on.
I have to admit, I like Obama, BUT BUT, I NEED to find out the truth behind his religious beliefs. If he is an EXTREMIST of any kind, then I'm sure I won't vote for him. Sadly, there are too many people that lie and deceive in order to get votes (or to make sure someone else doesn't get votes). WHERE IS THE TRUTH?

I believe that either way.... whether Islamic or Black Supremacy we are in for a major change (and not for the better) if Obama gets into office. Our country is in the deepest trouble of my life and electing this man will not bring it around.... it will send it deeper!

In my opinion it is highly important to know all religious affiliations of anyone running for any political office. Atheism included. Religious freedom is a basic right in this country, therefore electing a person into office that would sway or distort this freedom in any manner should not hold office. I dont have a problem with an official having a belief, as long as they dont try to force it on others, or dismiss the importance of another person's right to feel differently than they do.

The United States was founded as a Christian Nation. Freedom of Religion is a right to every citizen but when we even consider to "elect" a president of change we should be sure of his religious background not being affiliated (Muslim) with the very religion that is set out to destroy the religion (Christianity) that founded the very country he is about to be the leader of! No matter how anxious American's are for a change and possibly the first black president our national security is at risk for every citizen if this occurs. We only need listen to God's voice and his words on Jerusulum. No matter what religion we are all God's creation and his word out right says that Jerusulum is his holy city. The only people that have the promise of God to sit on the holy temple are God's chosen Jews. That does not mean that Jewish people should be arrogant that they are "better" only that it is what God says. Palestine and Muslim are trying to take over the Holy City and rights to the Temple Mount. This is a serious topic every American needs to know. To Desecrate his Holy City will mean ultimate destruction to any Nation that goes against God,ultimately by God. Soliciting
young unknowing, inexperienced American Citizens to vote via "YouTube",portraying himself to be hip and able to give false hope to them is like leading lambs into the lions den. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF OUR TIMES. WE ARE HEADED FOR A DEPRESSION. This Presidential Term will set the stage for World War III and War here in the United States, the very thing that the youngdemocrats for Obama want to avoid. It will be the driving force.
I believe he is a wolf in sheeps clothing.
Does any one know for sure that he has not gotten any of his campaign money from Muslim Organizations or any one affiliated with any? I would like to see someone or himself come forward and list everyone of his political backers? I did happen to see an interview with Hillary backed and sposnsored by Citgo which Americans should realize is owned by Chavez. American citizens have the right to full disclosure on this to see who backs all these canadites. I respect Edwards because he said he does not take Lobbist money. Let's fight to see a list posted of what money all the canadites have recieved from all sources, names and companies. This should give a little more insight to each American on where there hearts truly are.

I would never, ever, vote for a candidate who places such emphasis on his relationship with Jesus. The past seven years have been all about that, and look at this mess we're in!!!

I am very concerned about the rumors of Obama's Muslim upbringing. I would fear that this is a wolf is sheep's clothing for America. My husband and I are concerned about his lack of deference to the American flag and the Pledge of Allegience. Why does he turn his back on the flag and not place his hand over his heart?
Should we trust this man? Once he is in office, we are in big trouble when he shows his true colors.

more blood has been spilled "for god" than any other reason or purpose under the sun. get thee out of my government!

Greed, out spans the reason for blood spilled, not "for God" There is no good to justify the destruction of ethnic groups and then classify it as blood shed "for God" Yes, government get thee out of my religion. But remember that it was a belief in One nation under God, that this country was established on. Providing the opportunity for all faiths. Making America unique in its government.

I don't believe Obama is a Muslim. But personally, I wouldn't care if he worships rocks, as long as he can get this country on the right track. The lying idiots that have been in charge for the last 8 years are supposedly Christians, although from their actions, you wouldn't know it.
Wake up folks. Quit believing all the conspiracy crap the Republicans and Democrats are telling you and use your own mind for a change. If not, you're nothing but a bunch of puppets. There's too much at stake. Stick to the REAL problems facing our great country, not the mindless BS that everyone seems to want to talk about.
John Edwards (D)and Ron Paul (R)were the only candidates that actually presented good plans to help us (and not corporate America), but nobody listened. Everyone was too busy worrying about the petty and personal topics that won't mean a hill of beans in the end.

I would like everyone to visit Obama's church web site (Trinity United Church of Christ,Chicago, IL)....I found the website very interesting to say the least...After reviewing this website....I will NOT be voting for OBAMA....Obama has attended this church since 1988....I urge everyone to visit his church's website.

SIGH. Let me tell you something about Fear Politics. Fear Politics is when people listen to rumors and unfounded facts that claim harm will come to a certain group. Fear Politics appeal to emotions and deeply held beliefs, like religion, patriotism (extremist patriotism is also harmful), culture, etc. Here are some examples of the most successful uses of Fear Politics:
**Salem Witch Trials (dozens of innocents hung, drowned, and mistreated)
**Holocaust (Hitler convinces German people that Jews are destroying society. 6 million plus, murdered.)
Need I go on? Please base your decisions on facts, not on the fact that you are afraid that Obama may or may not be Muslim or part of black liberation theology.
Also- if you claim to be Christian, remember that a key cornerstone of being a follower of Christ is loving your neighbor. Including the ones who call God Allah. Don't subscribe to hatred and fear...fear no one but God, and stop slinging around the words Muslim and Islam as if they were dirty.
Secondly- please review the powers given to the Presidency and to Congress. A lot of your fears are unfounded because even if Obama were Muslim or something else his powers are limited. I mean, in the worse case scenario, he could lead our country into a war or into an economic crash or permit a terrorist attack on our soil...OH WAIT. That has already happened. Under a republican "Christian" adminstration.
Use logic and facts here. Please.

If Obama is a muslim it is only important if he is a terrorist. If he is just practicing his religion in peace it doesnt matter. However I believe if he is a muslim and tried to hide it that might just lean into him being a scary person because why would he hide it. He would have had the most unique oppurtunity of showing us exactly what being an allah fearing muslim really could be in a good way.
