This is the third part of a series in which we first debated environmentalism as an apocalyptic delusion; we next discussed collective amnesia induced through bureaucratic propaganda; and we now end with a dialog on the trafficking of aborted babies and the proliferation of gender dysphoria through indoctrination.
Prolife conservatives recognize all too well the rabid militancy present within the Baby Livers for Lambos scandal brewing at Planned Parenthood. Even as the Center of Medical Progress released its second shock video of a PP official bartering over viable, intact human organs from their stockpile of murdered children, abortion apologists began lecturing about our Christian duty to save lives by using fetal remains rather than just disposing of them…you know, as if these were the only two options for an enlightened society to have.
This is the magic of relativism of course. Pilates of the conscience requires rigorous focus and training, but once a more nimble relativism has been mastered, even human sacrifice can be made to sound civilized. From American Exceptionalism to Mayan decline in under three decades.
And can you imagine how this Planned Parenthood scandal might have evolved if Barack Obama's Born Alive aspirations had been realized? Can you imagine what the debate might be right now if officials at Planned Parenthood had been successful in their lobbying for post birth abortion? Can you imagine if a Princeton "bioethicist's" advocacy for the killing of disabled babies after they were born had prevailed?
It is no longer enough for a human child to successfully make it out of the womb in order to have his or her welfare merit concern. As the protection of human life now depends on the convenience of the society at large, it would seem that anything goes. The increasingly malicious disregard for human children simply knows no bounds. From the moment of conception until college graduation, progressivists see children as a natural resource that must be culled, herded, harvested, modified and propagandized to conform to societal needs.
The same can be said for the emergent veneration of gay-lesbian-transgender issues with a record number of children being encouraged to express gender dysphoria as a genetic imperative. Middle school and grade school students must now accommodate transgendered students who are struggling with gender identity issues. Students who exhibit discomfort with transgenderism are then rehabilitated to conform to the new normal.
Full acceptance of transgenderism is the newest progressivist litmus test by which free societies are now judged. Questioning the wisdom of this trend is the new hallmark of bigotry. We can't ask questions…not even in our own minds…because free expression is limited to whatever the LGBT community says it is.
Take this article entitled I'm a girl stuck in a boy's body': A 10-year-old's journey from Liam to Lia:
Lia Hegarty, a 10-year-old transgender girl, loves theater and wants to be a zoologist. For the past three years, she has legally changed her name from Liam to Lia, wears girl's clothes and will soon take hormone blockers to ward off puberty. "I say I am a girl stuck in a boy's body," she tells FRONTLINE in "Growing Up Trans," which airs Tuesday June 30 on PBS and online. The documentary looks at a new generation of younger children who have gender dysphoria and how new medical options are helping them.
Per Wikipedia, gender dysphoria is defined as discomfort, unhappiness, or distress due to one's gender or physical sex. The current edition (DSM-5) of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders uses the term "gender dysphoria" in preference to "gender identity disorder". DSM-5 introduces the term "gender incongruence" as a better identifying and less stigmatizing term and in this way, progressivism moves transgenderism from an emotional affliction to a biological imperative.
In terms of young Liam turned Lia, the child has parental approval to change his name, wear girls' clothing and chemically block the onset of puberty to accommodate his dysphoria. Again, doctors are chemically neutering children exhibiting gender confusion so that puberty won't unduly influence decisions on gender identity.
Doctors don't know what the root cause of the dysphoria in Liam/Lia is, but they are quite certain that if Liam/Lia thinks he is a girl then he is a girl. The community, the school and his peers must change their intrinsic, biologically wired understanding of gender to oblige the preference. (I had a younger cousin who pretended to be a puppy for a while when he was about three. No telling what doctors could have done for him in this era of science gone amok. Perhaps it would have been better for him had someone bought him toys from PetSmart?)
The article that I have referenced from Today.com regarding Liam/Lia is most compelling when we detach ourselves from our personal opinions about transgenderism and merely observe what the writer doesn't ask.
We gather what the writer wants us to know…Liam was the youngest child but is now middle child having been displaced by a younger sister. Physically, he's a 10 year old boy. He has a sister Katie who is 12 and a sister Molly who is 7. Liam/Lia was still wearing boys' clothes and choosing to play with trucks in preschool.
Liam/Lia took an interest in "girl things" starting before preschool. Molly was born when Liam/Lia was three. The family moved from Indiana to New Hampshire when Liam/Lia was 4. Liam/Lia started wearing pink shirts in public and girls costumes at home. The parents assumed he was perhaps gay and began buying him Barbie dolls.
Liam/Lia transitioned into a girl a couple of years ago by first wearing feminine shirts to school and then wearing dresses and makeup. He was disappointed to learn that children were making fun of him, but there was a counseling session on the subject of transgenderism, and the students now understand that people who don't accept Liam/Lia's choices are wrong.
Liam/Lia will begin taking puberty blockers like Lupron soon, and the parents expect that Liam/Lia will fall back into dysphoria at that time because his friends will be physically maturing and he will remain sexually immature.
This summarizes Liam/Lia's mother's account of the situation. Since it comes from a parent who is accommodating transgenderism, we can assume that she is well-meaning, open minded and doing what is best for the child. Any other maternal impulses would have invited ridicule as abusive bigotry.
So as you can see… we're not only reeducating our children on proper behaviors with regard to transgenderism, we are rehabilitating our nation's mothers as well.
Rehabilitation means that within the framework of the Today.com story, you are not invited to question if the parents are indeed doing what's best for the child. Within that context, what questions did the author not ask in order to complete a more accurate picture of events? How about questions like:
Have there been marital problems, infidelity or abuse present in the home?
Do the parents for some reason favor girls over boys?
Did Liam/Lia's preschool teachers prefer girls over boys?
When Molly was born, did Liam/Lia resent the attention that his sister was getting? Did he feel that he had been displaced by the baby?
Was Liam/Lia sent to preschool to accommodate the birth of Molly?
Did the move from Indiana to New Hampshire and the subsequent loss of friends and family exacerbate and intensify any feelings that one might expect a three and then four year old to feel after the birth of a younger sibling?
Actually, it doesn't take much research on the topic of transgenderism to learn that gender dysphoria is an emotional state falling within the same spectrum as body dysmorphic disorder which contains anorexia nervosa, species dysphoria, olfactory hallucinations (smelling something that isn't there) and pro ana or pro mia (the act of encouraging anorexia or bulimia nervosa.)
Did you know that there are entire organizations out there, for instance, that are dedicated to the idea that anorexic girls should be left alone to starve themselves in peace. There are equally as many groups that believe "binge and purge" should be normalized. They claim that these are "lifestyle choices" rather than mental disorders, and that the choices should be respected by doctors and families.
As a society, we look at such claims about anorexia and bulimia as perversions of science that obviously harm the health and wellbeing of children and adults alike. One need only look at the decline in health in people like the late Karen Carpenter to see the devastation that eating disorders bring. We are biologically wired to recognize that anorexia is unhealthy and not to be emulated. Moreover, we have not been conditioned to ask how other anorexics might feel about advocating against eating disorders.
Perhaps that's because mainstream progressivism hasn't decided to fight for the rights of anorexics and bulimics as this year's cause celebre. Pro ana and pro mia are recognized as disorders equal to anorexia and bulimia in their severity. Just as it is a commonly held belief that people with eating disorders should undergo psychological treatments to stop their self-destruction, so it is with their enablers.
The right to a post birth abortion, the trafficking of infants as an acceptable behavior, transgenderism and apocalyptic delusions of manmade climate change on the other hand are all forms of dysmorphic disorder that progressivism is working overtime to normalize. The consequences and fallout from these destructive behaviors are tangible but are now meant to be ignored. Those who won't or can't ignore them? They must undergo counseling by the progressives who redefine what the new normal is.
