PARK RIDGE -The Technology & Manufacturing Association of Illinois (TMA) hosted State Senator Jim Oberweis, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, at their Breakfast For Business series on July 30th. Upwards of 130 TMA members and guests were on hand to meet Mr. Oberweis and hear his thoughts on running against Senator Dick Durbin.
“I know I face an uphill battle, but recent polls have shown the race tightening,“ Oberweis told the members. “I plan to work hard for the citizens of Illinois and I will support jobs and infrastructure issues including building the Keystone Pipeline.”
TMA members were pleased to hear Oberweis' interest in moving along the Keystone XL Pipeline, an effort that President Obama and incumbent Senator Dick Durbin have thus far successfully stalled.
Illinois manufacturers are also concerned about foreign competition and the need for more federal investment in infrastructure. Environmental Protection Agency and OSHA regulations place more and more restrictions and burdens on business owners, at the same time technology is advancing. The uncertainty is affecting business' hiring plans.
“It was nice to have State Senator Oberweis with us at TMA stated TMA President Steve Rauschenberger. “So far he has a 100 percent rating with the TMA PAC on votes cast in Springfield. We look forward to working with him in Washington as well” he added.
Oberweis scored well with TMA members on this call to have a Special Prosecutor on the IRS scandal.
Senator Durbin has been invited to visit with TMA members, as well.
