WASHINGTON DC - The Obama Administration's "war on women" continued in July with the number of unemployed women 16 years and over increasing by 227,000 as the unemployment rate for women ticked up from 5.9 percent to 6.2 percent, according to data released today from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
As reported by CNSNews, in July there were 4,494,000 women who were unemployed, an increase of 227,000 from June, when 4,267,000 women were unemployed. A person is counted as unemployed by the BLS if they say they did not have a job during the month but they were actively seeking one.
While the number of unemployed women increased, the number of employed women decreased from 68,568,000 women in June to 68,486,000 in July, a one-month drop of 82,000. A person is considered employed if they had a job during the month.
The unemployment rate for women in July increased from 5.9 percent in June to 6.2 percent in July.
