WHEELING - Under the direction founder Charlie Kirk, the young people-aimed Turning Point USA is growing in leaps and bounds. Kirk, who has become a favorite on Fox News business talk shows in the past year, held a fundraiser event Wednesday night at Saranello's restaurant in Wheeling with nearly 200 - mostly 30 and under - in attendance.
Former congressman and radio talk show host Joe Walsh warmed up the crowd. Later, Kirk spoke of opening new Turning Point USA chapters across the country, with the main theme of "Big Government Sucks." The theme is promoted on buttons, tee shirts, bumper stickers, and a new website.
Kirk also announced Turning Point USA just received their 501c3 approval from the IRS, so they can increase their fundraising effort.
A surprise guest, Bruce Rauner, Republican candidate for governor spoke of creating jobs, term limits, and limited government.
