The Quincy Herald-Whig reports Quincy Compressor officials said they would close the location in July 2015. They made the announcement Tuesday at a meeting with workers.
State and local officials previously said they wanted to develop an incentive package to convince the company to remain open. But Quincy Compressor president John Thompson says “combined union and civic incentives fell short.”
The company will create an undetermined number of positions at its facility in Bay Minette, Ala. It employs about 550 people nationwide.
