CHICAGO - According to a new Sun-Times poll, voters are taking the possible candidacy of Chicago Teachers Union president Karen Lewis seriously. Lewis has hinted she may challenge Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The survey found that if the mayoral election were held today, Lewis would beat Emanuel by 9 percentage points (45 Lewis, 36 Emanuel) in a head-to-head contest.
Emanuel could face an even tougher challenge from Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, who the poll found would beat him by 24 points (55 Preckwinkle, 31 Emanuel).
