LOMBARD - A DuPage County election board decided Thursday that Republican Peter Breen, who challenged and defeated incumbent GOP State Rep. Sandy Pihos in the March primary, will appear unopposed on the November 2014 ballot.
The DuPage County Election Board upheld filed objections to the DuPage Democrats' committee proceedings appointing Democrat candidate Marian Tomlinson. The objectors complained that county Democrat Party Chairman was not listed among the nominating committee members on paperwork filing with Tomlinson's appointment, as the Election Code requires.
"The Notice of Appointment clearly shows that Paul Fessenbecker, Tom Gebka and Walt Zlotow were the only committeemen who designated the CANDIDATE to fill the vacancy in nomination for the OFFICE," the DuPage Election Board said in its decision. The committee did not include Bob Piekert, the DuPage County Democrat Party Chairman.
The decision could be appealed, but the decision at this time says Tomlinson will not be on the November ballot for the 48th House District race.
