SUGAR GROVE - GOP U.S. Senate nominee Jim Oberweis is challenging career politician Dick Durbin to seven statewide debates.
In a press release, Oberweis said it is time for Durbin to stop ducking questions from the media, and accused him of refusing to answer whether he favors a special prosecutor for the IRS scandal as well as his money he received from a corporation with a history of sexual harassment.
Specifically, Oberweis is proposing:
- Seven statewide debates with legacy media sponsors.
- One of the debates to be co-hosted by a liberal organization and one co-hosted by a conservative organization.
- At least three of the seven debates outside the Chicago media market in major downstate locations.
- A debate format Oberweis calls "open" and "free-wheeling"
