CHICAGO - A new poll commissioned by the Illinois Education Association shows the gubernatorial race very close, with Republican challenger Bruce Rauner slightly ahead, according to the Sun-Times. The poll of 1003 likely voters was conducted July 17 through 22.
The Harstad poll, paid for by the Illinois Education Association and conducted using live interviews with respondents on a mix of landline and cell phones, has Rauner with 46 percent, Quinn with 42 percent and 8 percent undecided.
The IEA's findings contrast with a We Ask America poll released earlier this week, which showed Rauner ahead by 14 points.
Polling from the pro-Quinn IEA, would naturally tend to favor Quinn, while the We Ask America poll, which is associated with Greg Baise who runs the pro-Rauner Illinois Manufacturing Association, would tend to favor the GOP candidate.
