The Ottawa Times and the Kankakee Daily Journal report that the Ku Klux Klan(yes there is still at least one of them around) has been leaving leaflets in communities in Northern Illinois.
The leaflets have so far been found in the Illinois towns of Streator, New Lenox, Tinley Park and Seneca. It appears only one person is involved in the leaflet campaign.
... [T}he organization's Grand Dragon for Illinois, who he declined to name, has been keeping the state "hot" with recruitment drives and private rallies. To date, none of it has been local, according to recent police reports and sources. Theodis Pace, president of the Kankakee County branch of the NAACP, said his organization hasn't heard of any Klan activity locally. Clint Perzee, Iroquois County sheriff's police investigator said there haven't been any reports in Iroquois County, either. Ken McCabe, Kankakee County sheriff's police chief deputy, did not return a telephone call seeking comment.
