They tell us that they care more than we do.
Isn’t that the key, the sum total of the American Left’s argument, when you boil it down? They care. They care so much, they remind us every day how MUCH they care. More than the moderates, more than the independents. And they accuse the Right of not caring at all, of being terribly heartless in the face of illness and want and crime. And this they use to win election after election, and to force all sorts of policy changes on a nation in disarray.
But is it true? When you look at the real world, at the real issues and the actual results of a century of progressive (Leftist) policies, what does the evidence show?
The Left shouted that health insurance was too expensive and too many businesses couldn’t give it out as a benefit. So they forced Obamacare on us, which has caused the cost to skyrocket, forced employers to drop it, and driven countless good healthcare providers out of the business entirely. Now for some eight months a year, you can’t even buy approved health insurance, because Obamacare, as wonderful as it is alleged to be, is only available during a brief open enrollment period at year-end.
If the Left were really concerned about Americans’ good health, would they be inviting tens of thousands of unvaccinated Central American illegal immigrant teenagers into the country, a process which has already been reported to be flooding the southwest and our inner cities with Tuberculosis, Lice, Chagas Disease, Dengue Fever, Hepatitis, Malaria, Measles. Many of these have been eradicated in the United States for decades, but are now coming back, as the Left is welcoming these hundreds of thousands of potential carriers of communicable diseases, many with high fatality rates, for the sole purpose of political advantage, since padding their voting base with uneducated new arrivals is the Democrats’ only hope to win elections.
Do they REALLY care about American healthcare, or do they just care about politics?
The Left’s association with the advancement of the cause of “the worker” has a long pedigree. They have claimed to be the party of full employment for a century. The Left bemoans job losses – as well they should – and makes vague general calls for job creation and higher wages. They pass laws setting minimum wages and mandating union membership in state after state, in industry after industry.
But we have seen the results of these policies. Minimum wages destroy jobs by pricing whole industries out of a region. Unaffordably heavy regulations drive companies out of state or even out of country, fleeing to foreign shores where countries hungry for progress welcome new factories rather than attacking them. Union greed has led to strike after strike, putting companies out of business in the effort to wring ever more unaffordable concessions out of employers already struggling against foreign competition and crippling taxes.
And now the Left’s “open borders” immigration policy has been importing both low-wage workers and welfare consumers into the country by the millions every year for a generation. American citizens willing to work lose out on employment as illegal immigrants living ten to a room take their jobs. It’s not just landscaping and migrant farm labor anymore; as illegal immigrants take the entry level job opportunities in construction, manufacturing, and the service sector. The Left intentionally undermines enforcement of the laws against such hiring, very clearly taking the side of this destruction against the American worker, in favor of importing millions of new and uneducated future Democrat voters.
Do they REALLY care about American jobs, or do they just care about politics?
The Left claims to care about the poor, the indigent, those in the ghettos, the trailer parks, the public housing complexes of our urban jungles.
But those areas are a war zone, a continual battle between the abused and the abusers. The Democratic politicians who run our cities negotiate deals with gangs and prisoner advocates, and have designed a criminal justice system in which criminals are returned to their communities as fast as possible, to keep those communities in terror and dependence.
For half a century, the Left has fought the ability of citizens to defend themselves through their 2nd Amendment rights. The Left has fought against mandatory minimum sentencing that would keep the criminals out of society. The Left has all but eliminated capital punishment, the only guaranteed way to stop the most dangerous criminals from recidivism. They have turned the criminal justice system into a revolving door.
And now, their open borders immigration policy has become a conveyor belt, fast-tracking gang recruiters, cartel-trained drug dealers and rapists into the country, without so much as background checks or documentation. The crime rate has accelerated in direct tandem with the influx of border jumpers. Robbery, drug abuse, sex crimes and violence of all sorts have skyrocketed… first in the border states, then in the target-rich urban destinations with already oversaturated immigrant populations, which makes assimilation into what was once a great American melting pot utterly impossible.
Do they REALLY care about the millions of American victims of domestic abuse, drug addiction, and drive-by shootings, or do they just care about politics?
Churches and Culture:
America has long prided itself on a civil society superior to the government. The rest of the world has long respected the United States for the myriad of advantages that Alexis de Tocqueville discovered in the tour that led to his great book, “Democracy in America.” We have long had a network of churches, home-and-aid societies, charities… a body of civic organizations designed to spread the freedom philosophy of our Founding Fathers across an ever more diverse populations.
Our parents or grandparents may have come from Europe or Asia or South America or Africa, but our shared educational system and civil society – at least back in the 19th century – were able to homogenize that population, breaking them of the negatives of their former homelands, and incorporating the positives into our productive, happy, melting pot culture.
But in recent years, the Left’s success in virtually nationalizing both our schools and our economic safety net has exploded beyond their expectations. The American melting pot has been abandoned, in favor of a celebration of “diversity,” in which the worst aspects of the rest of the world are declared unassailable. A cacophony of languages makes unity impossible. Enclaves of sharia law, drug culture, and the violent patriarchy of so many foreign cultures are growing from coast to coast.
This process not only robs the immigrants of the very American experience that we like to think that people come here for, but in addition, it degrades our existing culture at ever-increasing speed. They say that this nation was built on immigrants, but that is only true to the extent that the immigrants were able to assimilate into the American Way. Where immigrants cannot be assimilated, their introduction of other, lesser cultures just diminishes the exceptional greatness that was once the United States of America.
Perhaps worst of all, the Left has recruited the civil societies, especially countless churches, into this destructive crime. They have convinced churches to become “sanctuary parishes” – literally inviting illegal immigrants and other criminals to be housed in church basements, in the rectories, and in the homes and property of their parishioners. A whole subset of American churches has gradually been transformed from an active proponent of a Judeo-Christian American culture into a criminal enterprise, welcoming and enabling an invasion by hundreds of thousands of border-jumpers every year.
Their noble instinct toward compassion for the indigent has been outranked by a political goal, without the understanding of culture, economy, or philosophy to see the error of this practice. For decades, these radical churches have invited in the very rapists who’ve assaulted their parishioners’ daughters, who’ve robbed their parishioners’ homes, who’ve recruited their parishioners sons into gangs.
This corruption of churches and civic groups may be among the most destructive successes of the modern American Left. They have undermined the very society that once was their greatest facilitator, the society that once put the churches and civic groups first. This corruption is destroying both the purpose and value of both the churches and the nation.
And why? To speed along the immigration of uneducated foreigners. To speed along the influx of unAmericans at a pace that makes assimilation impossible. The Left saw states without significant immigration vote 55%, 60%, 65%, even nearly 70% Republican in recent elections, and so they have accelerated the invasion in a desperate, lawless, fatal effort to wrest future elections from the pro-American side of the aisle.
Do they REALLY care about American churches and synagogues, American communities and neighborhoods, or do they just care about politics and power?
For those of us who’ve been paying attention, the answer has been self-evident for decades.
