Sure it is possible to read too much into the primary defeat of Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) by a Tea Party challenger. But one big truth is that the DC establishment in both parties has been taught a lesson in humility.
Proverbs 16:18 says that "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
The challenge by Professor David Brat was written off by media and DC pundits. The House Majority Leader out spent Brat by a ratio of fifty to one in the 7th District where Cantor had been the incumbent for ten years. Upsets of this magnitude are rare in American politics and Brat called his victory "a miracle from God."
Even the worshipers of secular gods in DC might be starting to wonder if Brat is right.
