CHICAGO - The Chicago GOP has been working hard to get candidates for Congress, the State House and the State Senate. Wrapping up its recruiting season Monday, the group filed another five candidates for seats in representing the City of Chicago.
IL House Speaker Mike Madigan's organization challenged the petitions of the nine other Chicago GOP candidates that filed last year and the Chicago GOP expects a challenge again.
"Our petitions are strong," said Chris Cleveland, Chicago GOP spokesman. "We don't expect his challenges will succeed." Each candidate doubled the minimum requirement of signatures.
"The voters will have a choice this year, whether Mike Madigan likes it or not," said Cleveland.
