Conservative and Tea Party candidate Ben Sass won the GOP nomination for U.S. Senator in Nebraska Tuesday night by a wide margin while the establishment GOP candidate came in third in a field of five candidates.
Sasse was endorsed by Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) while Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) endorsed the third-place finisher. Sasse is pro-life and his TV commercials featured his two daughters explaining why he is opposed to Obamacare. The GOP nominee is usually a heavy favorite to win the November election in Nebraska. Sasse would replace Sen. Mike Johanns who is retiring after six years.
