The Illinois Senate Executive Committee on Wednesday passed a measure that would allow donation of a chair used by Obama. The chair is housed in Senate President John Cullerton's office. Other Obama-related items are in storage.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that in pushing passage of the measure, Cullerton said it's better to donate the furniture than sell it. Alluding to imprisoned former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's effort to sell the U.S. Senate seat Obama vacated in 2009, Cullerton joked someone tried selling his seat, "and it didn't work out so well for him."
Senate Bill 125, now moves to the Senate floor.
