Meyer thus will be running in the November election against Rep. Anna Moeller of Elgin, a former city council member who local Democratic leaders appointed to fill the vacant seat after Farnham resigned March 19 in the wake of a child-pornography scandal. Farnham said at the time that he was quitting because of ill health, but he later was charged buy federal investigators with two counts if possessing child pornography.
Meyer, 32, a lifelong Elgin resident, is a partner in the Sycamore-based law firm of Smith & Meyer, LLC, which specializes in civil litigation. He and his wife, Courtney, have one child, a baby son named Zachery.
