WASHINGTON - "Dude, this was two years ago!" are words that will soon become famous. Friday afternoon Twitter hashtag #ReplaceFamousQuotewithDude was trending with thousands of quote variations.
That phrase was first heard Thursday, in an interview on Fox News Bret Baier in which former National Security Spokesman Tommy Vietor scoffed an "alternative universe" of a Benghazi coverup. Vietor was in the White House Situation Room the night of the 2012 terrorist attack. He told Baier over and over he did not know what the President was doing during the crisis.
Baier asked about President Barack Obama's whereabouts the night of the attack, as well as whether Vietor had a hand in allegedly changing the White House's messaging directives following the tragedy.
"Did you change 'attacks' to 'demonstrations' in the talking points?" Baier pressed.
"Maybe, I don't remember," Vietor responded, "Dude, this was two years ago!" he said incredulously.
"Dude, it's the thing everyone's talking about," Baier said.
