LPAC is rolling out endorsements for candidates and ballot initiatives around the country, including backing Democratic Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s re-election bid against Republican Bruce Rauner.
“Governor Pat Quinn is facing a difficult race in November,” LPAC’s website notes. “During his time in office, Quinn signed the 2011 law to abolish the death penalty and the 2013 law to legalize marriage between same-sex couples. Quinn has a 100% rating from NARAL.”
LPAC also is backing the candidacy of Mary Burke, the Democrat challenging incumbent Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Burke is pro-choice, supports marriage equality and is against requiring photo IDs in order to vote.
Ricketts, who previously served as a member of the Democratic National Committee Finance Committee and chaired its LGBT leadership panel, will announce that the organization will also take a stand against a Tennessee constitutional ballot initiative that LPAC says will repeal reproductive rights protections.
