SPRINGFIELD - Thursday, State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) will be offering a compromise to House Speaker Mike Madigan's (D-Chicago) effort to use taxpayer dollars to bring an Obama presidential library to Chicago. Brady's idea is to set up a fund into which citizens can voluntarily contribute to fund presidential libraries in Illinois, rather than dip into empty Illinois state coffers.
Wednesday, Madigan ushered through the House Executive Committee a re-vote on his effort to invest $100 million taxpayer dollars to sweeten Chicago as the location choice for the Obama library committee.
If Madigan's bill passes the House, it will go onto the Senate, where a Democratic super-majority is in control.
