MARKHAM - A traffic court judge in Markham Illinois that was removed from duty in March 2012 for shoving a court officer was the topic of discussion on national news Wednesday.
Fox News senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano said Wednesday he expects an Illinois court panel to reinstate Judge Cynthia Brim, 55, who was ruled insane after two days of inappropriate behavior - including attacking a court staffer - while overseeing court proceedings.
The Illinois judge, who continued to receive her $182,000 annual salary while under treatment for psychosis, says she's able to perform her duties now, as long as she takes her medications.
Napolitano, a former New Jersey Superior Court judge, analyzed the case Wednesday morning on Fox and Friends. He pointed out that Brim's annual salary is higher than federal judges, and she'll likely be able to keep it no matter how her case turns out.
Since she's been elected, Napolitano explained that to remove her completely Illinois lawmakers would have to undertake a "difficult, highly politicized" impeachment. He believes the judicial review will conclude that Brim can keep her job, with pay, but will not sit on the bench anymore.
The question that remains is whether Democrats in Chicago will decide to put Brim's name on the ballot again in November.
