"Our first Protest will kick off today at 11AM at Orr High School in Chicago and will target Alderman Jason Ervin for voting YES on passing the Chicago Speed Camera Ordinance on April 18th, 2012," a prepared statement says.
"Chicago politicians take big money from powerful Red Light and Speed Camera lobbyists to pass ordinances like the one passed by the Chicago City Council," the group's announcement said. "Red Light Cameras are not about safety, they are about millions of dollars in taxes to pad municipal funds, political campaign funds and corporate profits. Red Light and Speed Cameras are simply a tax masquerading as a safety measure, an insidious scheme by corrupt politicians and corporations to take our money and our liberty."
The group says they want to "ban the cams."
