CHICAGO - Governor Quinn is still getting heat for re-tweeting a Sun-Times column that compared Black Republicans to Jews collaborating with Nazis - another way of saying they are traitors to their own people.
Quinn took down the tweets and apologized for doing so after Jewish organizations called and complained.
However, no apologies - either by Governor Quinn, the columnist Neil Steinberg, nor the Sun-Times - were offered to Black Republicans in Illinois for the comparison. Steinberg's most egregious comments:
As a general rule, individuals will sell out the interests of their groups in return for personal benefit. It isn’t just a black thing. Jews collaborated with the Nazis during World War II, helping them to round up their own people in the hopes they’d be the last to go.
Today on CNN, Democrat strategist Paul Begala blasted Quinn for re-tweeting the column, saying it was reprehensible for him to do that, and the Governor should be ashamed of himself.
