CHICAGO - State Sen. Mike Frerichs (D-Champaign) who ran unopposed to be the Democrat nominee for Treasurer took a shot at his Republican opponent Tom Cross this evening. In a press release, Frerichs said:
"I am honored and deeply humbled to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination to be the next Treasurer of the great state of Illinois. As a Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) and former County Auditor, I am uniquely qualified for this office. I look forward to the coming months as Rep. Cross and I debate the differing visions we have for Illinois.”
Frerichs went on to accuse Cross of "consistently siding with wealthy and powerful interests in Springfield," with "little regard for the middle class."
