Felix M. Conde-Falcon was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Chicago. He was among two dozen Army veterans who will receive the honor. It comes after a review - mandated by the Republican-led Congress - to ensure that eligible recipients were not bypassed due to prejudice.
Conde-Falcon died in action on April 4, 1969. He was a platoon leader who died after "destroying multiple enemy bunkers and demonstrating extraordinary leadership under fire."
The award ceremony is scheduled for March 18.
