CHICAGO - The Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) rolled out their primary election endorsements this week.
Comprised of 103,000 "public professionals," the IFT says they are committed to "supporting candidates for public office who are willing to work with our union and our membership to provide the best public services possible."
With public sector union pension reform a major concern before the legislature, teachers and union affiliates are demanding more revenue to pay the pension promises governors and legislatures have ignored over the years.
"The candidates selected for IFT's recommendation in the March 18th primary may not always support 100% of the IFT’s legislative and political priorities," IFT's website says, "but share our goal and approach to improve public education and services."
